Scenes akin to a Hollywood film took place on Friday evening in Limassol’s Linopetra when the police tried to stop a car driven by a 43 year-old Greek Cypriot for a check after a tip-off they received that he was involved in drug dealings.
At the sight of the police officers signaling him to stop, the driver took off with speed. Police vehicles chased after him and, unable to stop him otherwise, shot rounds of ammo at his tires. The 43 year-old’s car crashed into two other police vehicles which had cut off the traffic to block him, and was immediately arrested.
In his possession 350 grams of cocaine and €1,000 in cash were found, indicating that he was a drug dealer.
