Dead Green Sea Turtle found on the beach (PICS)

A Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia Mydas), which was found dead on a Famagusta beach on Wednesday, has been described as the 42nd turtle to die in the north of Cyprus.

The turtle is believed to have died after being caught in fishermen’s net and is said to be the 42nd turtle, to have been found dead and washed ashore in the north in 2017.

The turtle was found by passersby at a beach in the area of Agios Sergios (Yenibogazici) in the Famagusta district.

According to a preliminary examination on the dead turtle, it was of a very young age and in good health at the time of death.
