Dangerous gardening gloves may be on Cyprus shelves

The Department of Labor Inspection on Wednesday announced that, following a European Union’s Rapid Alert System (RAPEX) notification, a specific brand of gardening gloves has been taken off the shelves in Cyprus.

According to the announcement, the gloves are of German origin, have ‘GUT’ as their brand name and GE 9702 as their batch code.

The authorities in Germany were the first to determine that the gloves do not comply with current legislation that sets out the basic safety and health requirements of Personal Protective Equipment.

The supplier has voluntarily withdrawn the product from the market but some may still be on the shelves in parts of Europe including Cyprus.
