Cyprus Kite Surfing Championships in July

The Cyprus kite surfing championships, King of Kite, will be held at Kahuna Surfhouse, Softades Beach Kiti on the 16-17 July, announced the event organisers, Kahuna Surfhouse on Wednesday.  The main competition day will be announced on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/106276706464805/

Kitesurfing is the fastest growing water sport in the world as it combines all the thrills of windsurfing, surfing, paragliding and wakeboarding.  It is a sport that is gaining huge popularity on the island and the organisers aim is to put Cyprus on the international kite surfing hotspot map – something which events like the King of Kite are contributing to.

The first King of Kite was organised in 2013 and due to its popularity, is now an annual event.

This year Lewis Crathern, better known for jumping over the Brighton Pier and the Worthing Pier in England, being a two-time

Red Bull King of the Air winner and Red Bull Megaloop Challenge winner, will be at the event to judge the Free Air competition, host the 6Km slalom race as well as putting on a demonstration in the water.

Last year there were 64 participants in the Slalom and 28 in the Free Air competition.

With the support of Cyprus Tourist Organisation, Larnaca Tourism Board, Keo Light, Gshock and City Press the King of Kite promises to be a unique day out for all sports enthusiasts, people of all ages and families.
