Health Minister George Pamboridis and his Spanish counterpart Dolors Montserrat discussed the issue of organ donation while meeting in Spain.
According to a Ministry of Health statement, the meeting saw the two Ministers reviewing the two countries’ general relations on health issues with organ donation taking up a large part of the discussion because of Spain’s position as one of the largest and most organised organ donor record-keepers in Europe.
- Cyprus law change would make every adult an organ donor
- Cyprus motorists to consent to becoming organ donors
- Organ donor tennis player laid to rest
The Health Ministers agreed that the contacts between technocrats of the two Ministries will continue over the next few months, with the aim of preparing an agreement that will provide for the exchange of expertise and cooperation between the two countries on transplantation and organ donation.
In this context, Pamboridis also extended an invitation for Montserrat to visit Cyprus in the coming months, which was accepted by the Spanish Minister.
