An increase of 5% has been recorded this year in the number of Cypriots travelling abroad for holiday, with Greece being the main destination.
Speaking to the CNA, the President of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA) Dinos Kakkouras said that Cypriots overwhelmingly prefer Greece and other European countries for their holidays in August, mostly the UK, Italy and Austria.
“There are many chartered flights to areas such as Athens, Thessaloniki and Crete. There are also many chartered or newly scheduled flights to other parts of Greece such as Rhodes, Skiathos, Mykonos, Santorini, Preveza, Kavala, Kerkyra, Zakynthos and others,” he said.
Kakkouras said that there is a trend for a 5% increase in outgoing tourism these past months.
Regarding incoming tourism, Kakkouras said that there is significant inflow, pointing out that hotels are all full.
The ACTA head said that the positive trend in incoming tourism is expected to continue in the coming weeks.
