Limassol-Nicosia motorway reopens after serious crash (PICTURES)

A section of Limassol-Nicosia motorway closed due to a traffic accident has reopened but the two people involved have been left seriously injured and their cars destroyed.

The traffic incident involved two vehicles at around 1.15pm on Tuesday.

The 52-year-old driver of the front car has been seriously injured and was later on Tuesday undergoing surgery at Nicosia General Hospital. Police confirmed she had been wearing a safety belt.

The driver of the second car, a 63-year-old man, was rushed to Limassol General Hospital with chest pains.

Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are continuing.
