Conference “Time for Change: Responsible Supply Chains in the Cyprus Context”


Future Worlds Center and CARDET are organising on Thursday 19th, 2017 of January a conference, entitled “Time for Change: Responsible Supply Chains in the Cyprus Context”,  at Classic Hotel in Nicosia. The conference is organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Conference will serve as a forum for discussion of the existing information and proposing new policies for controlling and reducing the environmental and social impact of the international supply chains. Through the conference, the organisers aspire to strengthen the collaboration between governmental and non-governmental stakeholders in hopes of enhancing these efforts at a local level and their harmonisation with European directives and regulations.

The conference will feature expert speakers from the organisations Global Witness from the UK and Global2000 from Austria, as well as Dr. Charalambos Theopemptou, Member of the Cyprus House of Representatives, Deputy President of the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment, who will set the frame on the topic of supply chains on an international, european and local level and address the current legislative developments.

The Conference is organised in the frame of European projects, Supply Chainge, Make Fruit Fair!, and Stop Mad Mining, which are being implemented in Cyprus by the non governmental organisations Future Worlds Center and CARDET with the financial assistance of the European Union.

The conference will be held in English, and the programme includes coffee break and light lunch. The conference is free and open to the public, however due to limited seating registration is necessary (https://haris23.typeform.com/to/uxCsUa).
