Two Chamber Music Concerts will take place in Limassol and Nicosia with the musicians of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra with works by the Bohemian Jan Dismas Zelenka.
The music of the Bohemian Jan Dismas Zelenka (1679-1745) is a relatively recent “discovery” in today’s music world, although during his lifetime he was admired by J. S. Bach. In his six Trio sonatas, written around 1720, he astonishes the listener displaying a desire for experimentation and idiosyncratic writing. Αbounding with vivid dance rhythms, dissonances and colourful harmonies, a sophisticated use of imitative and fugal writing and startlingly demanding passages, this music will pleasantly surprise the listener with its originality and delight both mind and soul!
