Cats taking over CyBC

State broadcaster CyBC is facing an upward struggle to get the growing cat population around its Nicosia headquarters under control.

CyBC Board Chairman Thanasis Tsokkos says the situation is currently under control even though several efforts to reduce numbers by the CyBC’s acting General Director Costas Nicolaides failed to bring down the number as much as hoped.

The problem, according to the state broadcaster’s management, is compounded by a CyBC employee continuing to fee the cats every day, encouraging them to stick around.

Another contributing factor is that residents of the area have begun dumping unwanted kittens within CyBC’s grounds, evidently hoping they too will be fed.

The exact number of the burgeoning cat colony is unknown.
