Charity donations need to be tracked

I think it was high time that the Cyprus Fundraising Authority remarked on the necessity for philanthropic drives to obtain a licence before launching their appeals. While last week’s edict was for the media, highlighting the fact that promoting such drives is illegal, it also brought into relief the licence requirement for private charity appeals.

Time to get serious

Developments following the collapse of the Mont Pelerin negotiations have caused the disillusionment of many peace supporters on both sides of the island. They have shown that it will not be easy for the two sides to come to an agreement. It has also been revealed how fragile a possible agreement can be, as the two sides seem ready to abandon efforts either for election purposes or simply want a delay in the process.
