British Bases authorities handed over a 19-year-old British soldier to the Cyprus police in connection with a brawl in a Kato Paphos club which sent a security guard to hospital.
According to police, the bouncer prevented the soldier from entering the club at around 4 am on Saturday morning as he appeared to be drunk.
According to the guard, the soldier subsequently attacked him with a broken beer bottle, injuring him on the arm before running off.
He was taken to the Paphos General Hospital where he was treated for his injury.
Police requested the British Base Authorities issue an arrest warrant for the suspect, which was carried out.
The 19-year-old was taken to the Paphos police headquarters where he was charged and subsequently released pending his court appearance.
