Boy killed on his bike had just beaten cancer

The 13-year-old boy who died when knocked off his bicycle by an on-coming car had only recently survived his battle against cancer.

Damianos Pachis from Anayia, Nicosia died of his injuries after he was thrown off his bike and hit a car windscreen on Wednesday evening.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Police said the 63-year-old driver wasn’t drunk but they are investigating the circumstances of the accident.

Ironically, Damianos had managed to beat a serious illness after being diagnosed with cancer in the lymph nodes.

After being diagnosed with cancer his family and friends rallied together to ensure that the boy received the best treatment in Germany. It paid off and Damianos returned in good health at the start of the summer.

Unfortunately his young life was cut short while out on his bike with friends.
