The bonus party at the Semi-state Organisations seems to have no end, despite of the cuts imposed in 2013 on the public and broader public sector.
Some Semi-state organisations are continuing to give out bonuses openhandedly, ignoring the government’s decision to cut bonuses by 15%.
According to the State’s Auditing Service, some of the organisations complied to the decision only in 2013, year in which the economic crisis was felt the most. During the following years, they continued handing out bonuses at a normal pace.
Last year, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus handed out €5 million worth of bonuses, €300,000 more than in 2015.
