Black and White Panorama – The Cranes are Flying

Cyprus Contemporary Film Centre kick of its yearlong ‘Black and White Panorama’ cinema exposition of classic and contemporary black and white films and audiovisual works, with a screening of ‘The Cranes Are Flying’ at Prozac.

This first screening will take place at 9pm and the film in question, is one of the landmark masterpieces of Soviet cinema, directed by Mikhail Kalatozov in 1957.

Depicting the cruelty of war and the damage suffered to the Soviet psyche as a result of World War II, the film tells the story of Veronica, who plans a rendezvous with her lover, Boris, at the bank of river, only for him to be drafted into World War II shortly thereafter.
