APOEL looking to move clear in title race

Cypriot champions APOEL will look to move seven points ahead in the league title race as they entertain struggling AEL in the Monday night kick-off.

Thomas Christiansen’s men are currently four points ahead of second place Apollon in the end-of-season playoffs and can increase their lead to seven with a victory over AEL at the GSP Stadium.

The Nicosia club – who will be without injured trio Vinicius, George Efrem and Inaki Astiz – are looking to clinch a record-equalling fifth consecutive title this season.

AEL – who are two points behind fourth place Omonia – will also be desperate for the three points as only a top four finish can guarantee them Europa League football in the summer.

The Limassol club are currently on the lookout for a new manager following the recent exit of Pambos Christodoulou.
