APOEL embark on group stage bid on Tuesday

Cyprus League Champions APOEL FC  will be vying for a place in the UEFA Champions League group stages on Tuesday when it faces Czech league champions Slavia Prague in the competition’s play-offs.

APOEL has reached the group stage three times before in 2009, 2011 and 2014.

Tuesday’s game is set to kick-off at 21:45 at Nicosia’s GSP Stadium in front of 15,000 fans and APOEL aim at achieving a result which will give them an advantage in the return game on August 24 in Prague.

The game referee will be Spaniard Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz and assisted by Pau Cebrian Devis and Roberto Diaz Perez Del Palomar. Teodoro Sobrino will be the fourth referee.

The winning team will advance to the Champions League group stage while the runners up will continue in the UEFA Europa League.
