Anorthosis go top after edging ten-men Aris

Anorthosis Famagusta went to the top of the table on Sunday after claiming a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Aris Limassol in a fiery encounter in Larnaca.

Sekou Cisse scored the only goal of the game at the Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium on the hour in a game which featured many chances. Aris played the final ten minutes of the game with ten men following the red card for Evariste Ngolok.

Anorthosis are one point ahead of the second place AEL but having played a game more. AEL had sealed a similar hard-fought victory over Doxa Katokopia on Saturday with Aldair scoring the only goal of the game on 79 minutes.
