Anastasiades sends message of condolence to Italy

President Nicos Anastasiades has sent messages of condolence to Italy’s President Sergio Matarella and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi following this week’s devastating earthquake which resulted in at least 250 deaths.

According to an official statement, in his messages, the President of the Republic stated the following:

“I was deeply saddened to learn about the disastrous earthquake that hit central Italy.

Allow me to convey to the Government and the people of Italy, as well as to the bereaved families, our most sincere condolences and to all those injured and affected by the catastrophe a speedy recovery.

As it has already been conveyed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, the Government of Cyprus stands ready to assist in anyway necessary in handling the consequences of the earthquake.”
