In 2006, a friend invited me to a new place at Mackenzie saying it was completely different from the other establishments in the area. It was Ammos Beach Bar. I was impressed by the tasteful, white aesthetics, the attention paid to the food and the very good mojito (another Ammos hit and the place’s mascot is the bulldog called Mojito). Ammos Beach Bar remains a hot spot Mackenzie. Every season it springs a pleasant surprise with new additions to the menu, new cocktails and the fantastic events it organises regularly with well known international DJs, banks and singers. This summer they have new flavours and super parties. On the menu there’s classics such as the grilled octopus on a stick, the Pulpo de Amor, the Cowboy Steak with rib eye steak, the Fritti Calamari, the Mango Salmon and the Ninja (platter sushi with rolls and nigiri). New additions include the two salads — Sunset and Crab, the Latin American Ceviche Maracuya, small kalamari Chipirones, the beef fillet Teriyaki Balsamico and the Nero Taglio pasta. Of the cocktails, order the Star Island though it’s well worth trying the others.
