Police have arrested a 37-year-old AEL fan after he attempted to invade the pitch during his sides Europa League qualifier in Larnaca against Austria Wien.
Police say that the fan lost his balance when he attempted to climb over the five-metre high fence separating the pitch from the stands and fell from a height of two metres during the first half of the game.
The 37-year-old was taken to the Larnaca General Hospital’s Emergency Department where he was treated for a broken leg.

He was subsequently arrested and detained and is expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court on Thursday to face charges relating to illegally entering a playing area of a sports ground.
Larnaca police are continuing their investigation.
AEL’s 2-1 defeat by Austria at the Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium was marred by crowd trouble – prompted by a controversial decision by the referee to award Austria a penalty and send off AEL defender Marco Airosa.
