Two Cypriot football teams, AEL Limassol and AEK Larnaca kick off their 2017-2018 season with their premiers in the Europa League. Both teams are starting their European campaigns from the first leg of the League.
AEK Larnaca, who finished in second place in the Cypriot league, is to face Lincoln from Gibraltar on Thursday at 5 pm at the AEK Arena in Larnaca. Meanwhile AEL Limassol will face St Joseph’s FC also from Gibraltar, in an away game which will take place in Faro of Portugal.
AEK and AEL are considered to be the favourites to pass through to the second leg and are to face the winners of the standoffs between Levadia (Estonia) and Cork City (Ireland) and between Rangers (Scotland) and Progres Niedercorn respectively.
Apollonas Limassol who start their campaign from the second leg will be following the game between Zaria Chisnau and Serbia’s Sarajevo in Chisinau, Moldavia, as they will be facing the winner.
