400 attempt first mountain marathon

Over 400 runners took part in the ‘Garmin Cyprus Troodos Marathon’, the island’s first ever mountain marathon organised by Dro.Me.A Racing on June 11.

Pavlos Mavroyiannis took first place in the marathon while Ianna Fysentzou was the first woman across the finish line.

Entries for the 8th 15Km Ice Power Troodos Green Race surpassed all expectations while runners had to overcome difficult terrain and morphology which also required a great deal of awareness and concentration.

Winners of the race were Javier Morelli and Shan Mansfield in the men’s and women’s categories respectfully.

Michalis Sykopetris and Rosa Mesfin were the winners of the 5 Km Nutribrakes Pine-Tree Charity Run proceeds of which go to assisting the ‘Funraising’ charity.

A children’s 600m was also organised for the day.

Garmin Cyprus was the main sponsor for the 1st Troodos Marathon while Kykkos water sponsored the 15 Km race, the Charity Run and children’s race while Cablenet is Dro.ME.A Racing’s 2017 sponsor.
