19th Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival

Six renowned dance groups from abroad and four local groups summon up this year’s Contemporary Dance Festival program taking place for the 19th consecutive year. There will be six performances in Limassol and four performances in Nicosia.

For 19 consecutive years the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Rialto Theatre organise the most important Contemporary Dance Festival in our country. A festival, which has been embraced by dance friends in Cyprus, while having won a special place in the world map of the respective Festivals, presenting the latest trends and creations highlighting the evolution of contemporary dance internationally.

Six renowned dance groups from abroad and four local groups summon up this year’s Contemporary Dance Festival program. Participating dancing groups from European countries such The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, the Czech Republic but also from neighboring Israel, as part of the Festival opening to the wider geographical area of Cyprus. The 4 groups representing Cyprus at the Festival are chosen by the Selection Committee and foreign representatives who attended the Contemporary Dance Platform, which took place last March.

Innovation at this year’s festival is the appearance of the French group with a performance intended for open spaces and squares. The performance will take place at the Heroes Square with free admission, brings into direct contact the wider public with contemporary dance.

Given this year the opportunity to dance friends in Limassol and Nicosia to enjoy six performances at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol and 4 performances in Nicosia at the Pallas Theatre. In addition, dance friends from Nicosia will be able to attend the performances of Limassol, with a free shuttle.

Responsible for the organization are, as every year, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Rialto Theatre, in collaboration with the Embassies and Cultural Centers of the participating countries.
